Recreational and Farmington Valley Program Overview

Mission:
The Simsbury Soccer Club (SSC) exists to promote player's appreciation of soccer, to develop player's skills necessary for team play, to provide equal opportunity for the development of individual players, and to accommodate every Simsbury youth who wants to play, regardless of ability level.

Fall registration opened June 30th.

Early registration closes July 21st

Late registration closes July 28th (late fees apply)

Amnesty Day is will be August 5th (this is the absolute last day to sign up for fall soccer as we are switching uniform vendors and our registration system - late fees will apply)

 

Program Overview

U5 Dinomites for players born in 2014

U5 Dinomites is an interactive educational soccer program for pre-school aged children. This 6-week program is supported by an age-appropriate, story-based curriculum that takes players on a different adventure every week with Dino and Deana (the male and female soccer balls). The Dinomites soccer ball has touch points to help children learn how to control and move the ball.

This program is a total of 6 weeks, the first session will provide players and families the chance to meet coaches and teammates. Each player new to the program will receive a uniform kit at the first session.

Parents are encouraged to help out and coach. Prior to the season there will be a coaching clinic to help parents become more comfortable on the field and understanding the skills being taught at this age group.

This program is only for children who were born in the year indicated above

U6 FUNdamentals for players born in 2013

Introduce your child to soccer through a six-week, one-hour clinic facilitated by our professional trainer Ken Akien. The program will take place on Saturday mornings at Orkil Fields. The program will focus on individual skills and developing a level of comfort with the ball and the game of soccer.

This program is only for children who were born in the year indicated above.

Parents are encouraged to help out and coach. Prior to the season there will be a coaching clinic to help parents become more comfortable on the field and understanding the skills being taught at this age group.


Team placement will be announced upon all volunteer positions filled to assist with coaching. Please consider coaching your child's team for this season. It will truly be a rewarding experience for both you and your child.

The program will focus on individual skills and developing a level of comfort with the ball and the game of soccer. Parents are encouraged to volunteer and participate. Players will be divided into "teams" of 6-8 players along with a volunteer parent and assistant.

Each practice will follow a clinic format, where the professional trainer will demonstrate new skills and games for the volunteers to implement with their teams. The trainers will circulate through the teams assisting the volunteers in working with the players.

There will be no competitive games at this level.


U7 Soccer for Boys & Girls born in 2012

The U7 program provides a level-appropriate combination of clinic-style training and small-sided games. During the season, all teams attend a weeknight practice facilitated by a professional trainer who works with the players and coaches to develop basic, individual soccer skills.

During the season, all teams attend an academy style practice facilitated by a professional trainer who works with the players and coaches to develop basic individual and team soccer skills. The sessions provide players with an enjoyable and challenging opportunity to advance their soccer ability in a team format.

On Saturdays, the players will participate in 3v3 games in two 25-minute halves.

This program is only for children who were born in the year indicated above.

U8 Soccer for Boys born in 2011

The U8 program provides a level-appropriate combination of clinic-style training and small-sided games. During the season, all teams attend a weeknight practice facilitated by a professional trainer who works with the players and coaches to develop individual soccer skills.

The sessions are typically 90 minutes (depending on daylight) and provide players with an enjoyable and challenging opportunity to advance their soccer ability in a team format.

On Saturdays, the players will participate in 4v4 games in two 25-minute halves.

This program is only for children who were born in the year indicated above.

In this program teams travel and play against other U10 teams from neighboring towns in the Farmington Valley League (FVL). Players are assigned to teams with volunteer coaches and wear the Simsbury Soccer uniform.

The cost for the program is $145 plus uniform. Since we are moving to a new uniform, all plaers will be required to purchase a new uniform.

Practice is once a week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 5:30-7:00 at field TBD. Please indicate any practice day preference during registration. Teams will be formed based on player and coach availability. Registration and teams are formed separately for the fall and spring seasons.

During the season, all teams attend an academy style practice on their respective night. This is facilitated by a professional trainer who works with the players and coaches to develop both individual soccer skills and team concepts.

In addition, each week there is a Friday evening co-ed skills clinic from 5:30-7:00 at Orkil for all registered U10 players.
